Specification
for novo gloss
Glossmeters are instruments to measure the reflective
qualities of manufactured surfaces. They work by shining a
light of known intensity at a surface and measuring the
specular reflectance.

Novo-Curve
Specification
for Curved Surfaces and small areas :
Novo-Curve
instruments use a narrow beam of light to accurately measure
the gloss of convex and concave surfaces. They can also be
used to measure flat surfaces and areas which are too small
to measure with standard glossmeters.
When you
measure a curved surface with a normal glossmeter, the light
beam is scattered by the concave or convex surface giving a
much lower and false reading for gloss.
The Novo-Curve also has a special optical arrangement that
allows accurate measurement of curved surfaces with a very
small radius of curvature. The Novo-Curve Lite is a
portable, hand-held device for measuring the gloss of larger
items that cannot be measured with the Novo-Curve.

Reflectometer
The
Novo-Shade Duo can be used to assess either the shade of a
surface (a simple indication of colour based on
lightness/darkness) or calculate the opacity of a coating,
plastic film or paper sample.
Measuring using 0/45º the Novo-Shade Duo measures the colour
of a surface and not the specular reflectance (gloss).

Hazemeter
The
Novo-Haze 20/60º uses both geometries together to calculate
the haze on a high-gloss or highly polished surface. Haze is
when two high gloss surfaces have similar gloss values
at 60º angle, but one of the surfaces has a milky/hazy
appearance compared to the other.
Poor product formulation or polishing effects leading to a
drop in surface quality can quickly be identified using the
Novo-Haze. The instrument can also be used as a Novo-Gloss
20/60ºS glossmeter.

MFFTB
The
Rhopoint MFFT is the industry leading instrument for
measuring the minimum film forming temperature of water
based materials. Definition - “MFFT is the lowest
temperature at which a latex, emulsion or adhesive will
uniformly coalesce when laid on a substrate as a thin film.”
An accurate MFFT value allows the formulation of products
that cure correctly under specified application conditions.
The Rhopoint MFFT works by holding a very accurate
temperature gradient across a nickel plated copper platen. A
flow of dried air across the platen stops condensation
