A Measures the
resistance encountered when the
penetrator beam forces the sample between an adjustable
opening
The Handle-O-Meter measures "hand" which is the combined
effects of flexibility and surface friction of sheeted
material such as nonwovens, tissue, toweling, film and
textiles. It measures the resistance encountered when a
penetrator beam forces the sample between the adjustable
opening. The data generated has been shown to correlate
well with the behavior of the material in production
processes as well as finished product performance.
Two interchangeable beams are available which provide a
testing range of 0-100 gms and 0-1000 gms.
Test modes can be quickly set for single, double or
quadruple measurements. The average is automatically
calculated for double or quadruple tests.
Optional sample plates are available for unique
requirements including teflon coated plates for testing
plastic film.

The SS-21 measures the short span
compression strength of papers (SCT). The SCT is a key
characteristic for liner and fluting materials as it
correlates to the product's stackability. A
user-friendly design, pneumatic clamps secure the sample
and minimize user error.
It
calculates complete statistical data and a parallel port
provides a printer interface and a RS-232 serial port
connects to PC for data transfer.
The Burst Tester (Model MTA-2000)
offers a streamlined design with advanced electronics
and a pneumatic clamping system to measure bursting
strength. Three models are available enabling the
testing of most materials including paper, board,
corrugated board, textiles, nonwovens and foils.
Utilizing an ergonomic design, the
MTA-2000 is user-friendly and can be operated easily
through the internal software, display and keyboard.
The standard software provides
control over the test, calculation of statistics, and
selectable units (kPa, kgf/cm , or PSI). A parallel port
interfaces to a local printer and a RS-232 serial port
enables you to send test data to a computer for analysis
and storage.
The Inkometer 1100 measures the
apparent tack of printing ink under conditions closely
approximating the dynamic conditions of the
ink-distribution system of a printing press. The testing
instrument provides the highest accuracy and efficiency
for research and development, quality control and
process evaluation to verify, test and improve quality.
The instrument measures the
integrated forces involved in ink film splitting and the
effects of roller speed, film thickness, temperature and
solvent evaporation.
The Inkometer 1100 consists of three rollers. The center
roller is a temperature controlled brass roller. The
bottom roller is an oscillating rubber composition
distribution roller. The top roller is a rubber
composition roller attached to the measuring system
which measures tack. Rollers are available for testing
standard and UV inks. The brass roller temperature is
controlled by circulating a coolant mixture provided by
a Constant Temperature Circulator (CTC).
The tack is reported in gram-meters
and represents the torque required to “work” the ink
film at a known rate with predetermined film thickness
and temperature.
The Inkometer 1100 multi-line
display shows the temperature, tack, roller speed and
test time. Tack readings can be exported to the RS-232
port, the integrated printer or to a USB flash drive.
Statistical reports can be viewed directly from the
display. The Inkometer provides four test methods based
on ASTM D-4361 as well as five user configurable methods
that are stored in non-volatile memory.
The PocketGoniometer family
consists of three different models with varying degrees
of automation. All three provide a means of measuring
contact angle by placing a drop of liquid on the
material surface and observing the resulting contact
angle. They are used for laboratory and field
applications related to gluing, printing and surface
problems and are ideal for checking contamination of a
specimen and the effects from cleaning and surface
treatments.
PG-1 The PG-1 is a battery-operated
instrument for manual measurements of static contact
angles. The magnified image of the droplet is displayed
on a screen. A reading is made by rotating the
protractor until the lines are parallel to the tangent
at the base of the droplet.
PG-2 The PG-2 is an automated
instrument with a built-in camera that captures 15
images during the first second. After the first second,
images are captured at a decreasing rate. This approach
ensures the capture of a high-level of detail, critical
in the beginning of the test, while keeping the volume
of data to a minimum. The unit connects to a PC through
a USB interface port and the included software program
provides automated analysis. The PG-2 utilizes a manual
dispensing unit for applying the droplet to the surface
of the sample.
PG«3 The PG-3 is identical to the
PG-2 with the addition of an integrated micro-pump which
delivers accurate droplets to the surface of the sample.
The JDC is recognized worldwide as
the accepted standard for preparing samples of paper,
metal foils, nonwovens, films, tissue and a variety of
other materials. Lightweight and portable, the JDC can
be anchored via the cast iron base for added stability
and operator safety. The positive cutting action of the
dual blades and precision ground base shear cut both
sides of the sample at once for a clean, accurate cut
every time.
The Model 4340 Automatic Densometer
& Smoothness Tester measures the porosity, air
permeability or air resistance of sheet-like materials.
It combines the abilities of a low, standard, and high
pressure tester with a digital timer that provides a
reading in seconds.
An auto-drive mechanism enables you
to program the number of tests as well as the span they
are tested over. Therefore, a sheet or strip of paper
can be analyzed automatically.
The Model 2100 measures the opacity
of plastic, paper and glass products. It exceeds the
instrument specifications of TAPPI T-425 in terms of
resolution at the high end of the scale, absolute
accuracy at the low end of the scale, photometric
linearity, and day-to-day repeatability. The Model 2100
also offers better resolution for high opacity paper by
using direct illumination geometry backed by a
high-reflectivity, diffuse white body compared to
diffuse illumination backed by a pad of paper.
The AccuTack Inkometer features
advanced microprocessor control to provide a quick and
accurate method for testing ink tack. Ideal for research
and development, quality control and process evaluation,
the AccuTack simulates the dynamic conditions that occur
in the printing process. It measures the integrated
forces involved in ink film splitting and the effects of
speed, film thickness, temperature and solvent
evaporation.
Simplified Testing. The advanced
user interface simplifies the test process. The operator
uses the touch-screen to select the required test
method, applies the ink to the distribution roller and
presses the "RUN TEST" button. Test speeds are
predetermined and can range between 150 RPM up to 4000
RPM. Test parameters of the current test are continually
updated on the built-in screen and the operator can
alternate between these and a real-time curve of the
test. At the completion of the test, tack results are
displayed in gram-meters, printed, and output to a PC
through the RS-232 PC interface. An average curve can
also be recalled for comparison of the current sample.
